S. Tipton Studio, an interior design firm specializing in workplace, medical, and industrial projects, has announced the addition of Michelle Vandermeulen, NCIDQ, IIDA, LEED AP, as Director of the Commercial Studio. Based in the firm’s Austin office, Vandermeulen will help grow the firm by leveraging her extensive leadership experience and project expertise.
“Michelle’s combination of design vision, technical expertise and people-first leadership makes her an ideal fit for our team,” said Sandy Tipton, founder and principal of S. Tipton Studio. “She brings the depth of experience needed to take on more complex and high-design projects. She also truly cares about the people she works with and has a long history in the Austin community. We’re thrilled to have her joining our team.”
Vandermeulen brings more than 20 years of experience designing and managing interiors across corporate, multifamily, healthcare and hospitality sectors. She most recently led the interiors practice for BOKA Powell’s Austin office, overseeing design execution, team management and client relationships for notable projects, such as the 600 Congress Lobby Renovation and The MET multifamily development near the Domain. Her strength lies in balancing the big picture with the details. She guides projects from concept to completion while building trust with clients and teams alike.
As a native Austinite and Texas State University alum, Vandermeulen was drawn to S. Tipton Studio for its local roots, collaborative culture and commitment to thoughtful design.
“The talent at S. Tipton Studio is incredible, and the firm’s values really align with how I like to work — with heart, intention and teamwork,” Vandermeulen said. “I’m excited to help grow our interiors portfolio and lead projects that reflect the quality and care the studio is known for.”
Vandermeulen is a licensed interior designer with NCIDQ certification and a LEED Accredited Professional. She is an active member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Outside of work, she enjoys life in Austin with her husband and two children.
